Why We Built Data+: From Qlik Analytics to Action

We’ve been working on Data+ for quite some time. And over the past few months, a lot has happened.

So instead of showing another individual feature or use case, we wanted to take a step back and explain why we built Data+ in the first place.

We didn’t build Data+ to sell it

We built Data+ because we needed it ourselves.

Qlik already gives you an incredibly powerful foundation for working with data. You can connect data from your CRM, ERP and other sources, build applications and create valuable insights.

But in our own work, we kept running into the same challenge:

At some point, you reach the analytics ceiling.

It’s easy to get started with Qlik and create use cases that deliver value. But once people start working with their data every day, they naturally want to do more.

They want to comment on something.

They want to enter information.

They want to select the next step.

They want to plan, approve or update something.

And they don’t want to leave Qlik every time they need to take action.

From insight to action

That’s the idea behind Data+.

Data+ extends Qlik with functionality that allows users to interact with their data directly inside their Qlik applications.

Instead of jumping back and forth between Qlik, an ERP system, spreadsheets or third-party tools, users can take the next step right where they already are.

This opens up a much broader range of use cases — from writeback and planning to collaboration, workflows and interactive business applications.

The goal isn’t to replace Qlik.

It’s to make more possible with Qlik.

Adding a new layer with MCP

More recently, we’ve added another layer to this idea.

With our own MCP capabilities, users can interact with structured data in Qlik through large language models.

This combines the flexibility and speed of an LLM with the structured data already available in Qlik.

The result is a more natural way for people to work with their data — while keeping the underlying information structured and connected to the Qlik environment.

It’s another step toward making data not just something you analyse, but something you can actually work with.

And Data+ keeps growing

The Data+ Suite has continued to expand.

New functionality such as Kanban boards and Gantt charts adds even more ways to work with information directly in Qlik.

And importantly, these features are included in the Data+ Suite.

That means you can continue to explore new use cases without having to worry about additional license costs for every new capability.

What we want Data+ to achieve

For us, it comes down to three simple ideas:

Extend Qlik.Enable action.Leverage value.

We want to help users get beyond the analytics ceiling and make Qlik an even more powerful environment for getting things done.

And we’re not finished yet.

We’re continuing to develop Data+ based on what we see in our own work and, most importantly, on what the Data+ community needs next.

What are you still missing in Qlik?

We’d love to hear from you.

If you haven’t tried Data+ yet, you can get started with a free license and onboarding and test it in your own Qlik environment.
